PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR JMET 2009

JMET 2009 Application Form can be submitted using ONLINE (Internet based) mode only.
INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
IMPORTANT
ONLINE applications can be submitted only till 8th October, 2008
ONLINE submission of JMET 2009 application can be done by accessing the website of IIT Kanpur, http://www.iitk.ac.in/gate and following the instructions contained therein. Before filling up on-line application form, please prepare a draft of Rs.750 (Rs.350 only for SC/ST candidates) in favour of 'Organising Chairman, JMET 2009' payable at Kanpur and one of your recent, good contrast coloured photographs.
Make sure that a good quality printer is connected to the computer from where you are submitting the Online application form.
Following steps are required to complete the JMET 2009 Online Application Process
1. Payment Modality and Relevant Details
In order to fill in the Online application, payment has to be made apriori.
Application fee is Rs. 750/-, ONLY for SC/ST candidates, the application fee is Rs.350/-
The Application fee is not refundable
Data for Online Application should be submitted by clicking the link given at the end. Printout of the application form for onward transmission to GATE Office, IIT Kanpur cannot be obtained otherwise.
You must make a payment of the Online application fee and keep the payment particulars ready before submitting the Online application form.
- Payment is possible through Only Demand Draft made in favour of 'ORGANISING CHAIRMAN JMET 2009 IIT KANPUR' on any nationalized bank payable at 'Kanpur'. The draft number, bank drawn on, draft date and amount must be entered during Online submission of the Application Form. Write your name and application number on the back of the demand draft.
2. Filling-up the ONLINE application form
Fill up the online application form carefully. After submission of all the details, preview the form. If you are not satisfied, then use back button and revise/modify the Online application form entries. After you are satisfied that all the entries are correct, click on the submit button.
3. Print the online application form
After the particulars are submitted, a print version of the application form is generated. The form will have the application number and the barcode for the application number. Please note down the application number generated below the barcode. Take print on a good quality A4 size paper by clicking the print button.
4. Photograph and Signature
On the PRINTED application form mentioned in Step 3, paste a 3.5 cm x 4 cm recent good quality non-attested photo of yourself with a good adhesive in the space provided (You may keep an identical photograph in reserve for future need). Sign in the space provided for specimen signature and the declaration at the bottom of the application form. The signature should be identical in both the places and it should be YOUR signature only. Signature in CAPITAL letters or initials are not acceptable. Keep photocopy of the application form, demand draft.
5. Obtain SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Person with Disability Certificate
SC/ST/OBC certificate and/or Disability certificate, IF APPLICABLE, should be obtained from appropriate authorities.
ENCLOSURES
Candidates are required to enclose the following document(s) with the completed application.
1. DEMAND DRAFT .
2. DATE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Enclose a freshly attested copy of your High School (Class X) Certificate as proof of age.
3. SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer) CERTIFICATE (if applicable)
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category must support their claim by submitting a freshly attested copy of caste certificate issued by a competent authority. The authorities empowered to issue scheduled caste/scheduled tribe certificate are:
- DISTRICT MAGISTRATE / ADDITIONAL DISTRICT MAGISTRATE / COLLECTOR / DEPUTY COLLECTOR / DEPUTY COMMISSIONER / ADDITIONAL DEPUTY COMMISSIONER / FIRST CLASS STIPENDIARY MAGISTRATE / CITY MAGISTRATE / SUB-DIVISIONAL MAGISTRATE / TALUK MAGISTRATE / EXECUTIVE MAGISTRATE / EXTRA ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER.
- CHIEF PRESIDENCY MAGISTRATE / ADDITIONAL CHIEF PRESIDENCY MAGISTRATE / PRESIDENCY MAGISTRATE
- REVENUE OFFICER NOT BELOW THE RANK OF TAHSILDAR
- SUB-DIVISIONAL OFFICER OF THE AREA WHERE THE CANDIDATE AND/OR HIS/HER FAMILY NORMALLY RESIDES
- ADMINISTRATOR / SECRETARY TO ADMINISTRATOR / DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS).
A certificate issued by any other official will not be accepted.
4. PERSON WITH DISABILITY (PD) CERTIFICATE (if applicable)
Candidates with disability must support their claim by submitting a freshly attested copy of disability certificate issued by appropriate medical authority.
Despatch of Application Form
The completed and printed Online JMET 2009 Application Form and the Enclosures mentioned above (see also the check list below) must be placed inside an envelope. Do not staple the enclosures to the Application Form. Fold the Application Form only once in the middle. On the right hand top corner of the envelope please write: JMET 2009 Online Application Form & Application Number. The envelope should be either mailed, only by Speed Post, to:

All applications, irrespective of the zone and choices of test cities, must reach the above address on or before October 17, 2008.

Please keep in mind that mailing the printed Online Application Form, with the enclosures, to reach IIT Kanpur GATE Office within 17 October, 2008 to the address stated above completes the ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE.
After two weeks from the date of posting you can check with this website to know whether your application form is received and processed.

About JMET 2009
Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (JMET 2009) is the first step in the process of admission to the TWO YEAR FULL TIME Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by IITs for the academic year commencing July/August 2009.
Currently IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee offer Programmes in Management.
JMET 2009 is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. They are also advised to look up the details provided in the brochure about the programmes available in the participating Institutes. There is no limit to the number of programmes a candidate can apply to, so long as he or she meets the eligibility criteria.
The results of JMET 2009 provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection process, like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for such later process of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute. JMET 2009 qualified candidates may contact the management departments/schools of the concerned institutes for additional information, if any. It may be noted that the GATE/JMET offices will not respond to queries on the admission procedure.
Candidates should note that the final selection would depend on their performance in each of the components of the selection process.
Rank Card will be issued only to the candidates who Qualified in JMET 2009 Examination. In case, Qualified Candidates do not receive their Rank Card by 20th January 2009, they should contact the GATE Office, IIT Kanpur (0512 2597412 ).
