How do I make the Application Fee payment for JMET 2009 using ONLINE Mode?

Application fee is Rs. 750/-, ONLY for SC/ST candidates, the application fee is Rs.350/- . The Application fee is not refundable

Payment is possible through Only Demand Draft made in favour of 'ORGANISING CHAIRMAN JMET 2009' on any nationalized bank payable at 'KANPUR'. The draft number, bank drawn on, draft date and amount must be entered during Online submission of the Application Form.

How do I submit the ONLINE application?

The completed and printed Online JMET 2009 Application Form and the Enclosures mentioned (see the website for check list) must be placed inside an envelope. Do not staple the enclosures to the Application Form. Fold the Application Form only once in the middle. On the right hand top corner of the envelope please write: JMET 2009 Online Application Form & Application Number. The envelope should be either mailed, only by Speed Post, to:

You can also submit the Application Form personally handing it over at the GATE OFFICE, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur All applications, irrespective of the zone and choices of test cities, must reach the above address on or before October 17, 2008.

What is Demand Draft number?

At the bottom of the Demand Draft, the number within quotes is the Demand Draft number.

Should I attest the photograph on the on-line application form?

Never attest the photograph on the on-line application form

What is the correct way of signing on the on-line application form?

The signature should be within the bounding lines of the box provided on the on-line application form. Sign with a black ball point pen. DO NOT sign in CAPITAL LETTERS. Keep in mind that the signature is your identification. As a general guide line you could use the signature that you use in banks and official documents.

When and how will I know the status of my application?

The status of your application will be put up on the JMET website. Click on the link "application status" and follow the instructions. Generally, your application status will be put up within two working days on receipt of your on-line application form.

Why should I choose two examination cities?

Generally, you will be allotted from among centres within the examination city of your first choice. Only in cases where it becomes difficult to accommodate you in the examination city of your first choice, your second choice be activated.

When will I get my admit card?

GATE Office, IIT Kanpur will post you the JMET 2009 Admit Card by Speed Post to your given address by November 17, 2008.

If you do not receive your admit card by December 5, 2008 you should contact the GATE Office, IIT Kanpur (0512 2597412) or visit the website http://www.iitk.ac.in/gate to know the Registration Number and the address of the Test Centre.

Am I permitted to change my centre/paper?

The test cities cannot normally be changed once the choice is made. Request for change of test city in exigencies should be accompanied by a Demand Draft for Rs. 400/- drawn in favour of 'ORGANISING CHAIRMAN JMET 2009' on any nationalised bank payable at Kanpur. Such request should reach The Chairman GATE, IIT Kanpur latest by November 28, 2008.

When will the JMET 2009 results be declared?

Results be declared on January 5, 2009.

Is qualifying JMET 2009 is enough to get admission to Management Schools?

JMET 2009 is only a qualifying examination. You have to apply separately to the Institutes of your choice. You are also advised to look up the JMET website link "Participating Institutes" about the programmes available. There is no limit to the number of programmes you can apply; so long you meet the eligibility criteria.

The results of JMET 2009 provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection process, like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for such later process of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute. JMET 2009 qualified candidates may contact the management departments/schools of the concerned institutes for additional information, if any. It may be noted that the GATE/JMET offices will not respond to queries on the admission procedure.
