Power Grid will be recruiting around 118 Executive Trainees under various streams like Electrical, Civil, IT and HR. There are reservations according to the regular norms. The age limit is 28 years as of January 7, 2009. The technical posts require a BTech/BE in their respective disciples. While HR candidates need a PG/MBA in HR.
The selection process consist of written test, interview and group discussion. The written test consists of two sections- 120 questions of Technical Questions and 50 questions on Aptitude. There are 18 centers across India for written test.
All candidates need to apply online. All candidates expect SC/ST need to pay the exam fee of Rs.400 through SBI bank. The online application will be available from December 27, 2008. And the last date of online application is January 7, 2009. Last date to receive hard copy application is January 17, 2009. Admit Cards will available from February 6, 2009. And the written test will be on February 22, 2009.
Symbiosis National Aptitude test also knows as SNAP 2009 was held on 21st December,2008.

BPUT Results
The "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" is an ongoing programme started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the programme is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.
This programme strives to assist the students to realise their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country. Generous scholarships will be provided (up to the pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.
In addition, summer programmes for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.
The KVPY is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The programme is administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore), through the overall control of the Chief Executive (SID). The selection of students from those who are studying +1, +2, any U.G. Programme including First/Second year Engineering/Medicine are carried out by IISc (Bangalore), IIT-Bombay (Mumbai), and ICMR (New Delhi), respectively, in association with two Zonal Centres one at Kolkata (Indian Institute of Science Education Research, Kolkata) and another at Mumbai (HBCSE, TIFR). There are special groups or committees set up at IISc, IIT and ICMR which screen the applications, conduct interviews at various centres, make the final selection and attend to follow-up matters.
The Department of Science and Technology - the nodal agency of the Government has entrusted the overall responsibility for organising the scheme to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and set up a National Advisory Committee (NAC) for overseeing its implementation. A Basic Committee and a National Scientific Committee has been set up to monitor various aspects, both administrative and academic, of the KVPY Programme.
ELIGIBILITY
These Fellowships are only for Indian Nationals studying in India.
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs. 4000 to Rs. 7000 pm) and contingency grants (Four months fellowship) for students studying in Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. Selection to the programme takes into account academic excellence and demonstrated interest in pursuing research career. Selection procedures are different for Basic Sciences, SP (Engineering) and SP (Medicine) and SP(Basic Sciences). All of them, however, include an interview for final selection.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Basic Sciences (SA and SB)
After scrutiny of application forms and based on the performance in the Board Examination, aall the eligible candidates from Streams SA and SB will be called for a written aptitude test (multiple choice). The test will be conducted at different centers across the country on 2nd November 2008 (First Sunday). The details of the venue of the aptitude tests will be put on KVPY web to the in October 2008. Based on the performance in the aptitude test candidates will be called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
Sciences (SP); SP (Engineering) and SP (Medicine)
KVPY applicant is required to submit the project report, chosen and executed by the candidate exclusively for this application. The projects done jointly with other candidates are not considered for KVPY Fellowship award. Applicant’s creativity and originality should be amply reflected in the project. This project has to be supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted either at IISc, Bangalore or IIT-Bombay, Mumbai or ICMR, New Delhi during the month of December 2008 or first week of January 2009.
Please Note that applications without the project report will not be considered. The project should not be a routine one (such as measuring well known property of materials etc.) The supervising teacher / professional is required to provide a recommendation letter certifying the extent of the applicant’s original contribution to the project.
